Oh blog, how you taunt me!! Sooooo much easier to do quick drive-bys on Facebook than to come here and articulate a full set of thoughts and images! In any event, I have LOTS going on these days and it’s high time I shared a little of it…
Just signed up to participate in the Fine Arts Institute (FAI) of Edmond’s 5×5 exhibition. FAI is a nonprofit community arts organization that provides education enrichment in visual and performing arts to all ages. The show is a fundraiser and will curate 55 pieces of 5″x5″ art that will be sold for $55 each on 5/5 starting at 5:55. Gotta love all that 5 energy (freedom, adventure, connection)!! I have to admit, I’m battling the “must not mess up the canvas” demon a bit, but ideas are cooking!
In early April (date not set yet), I’ll be back at My Heart’s Fancy in Oklahoma City for another round of Gelli® Journaling! We had an absolute blast with this class and I’m so grateful to Gelli Arts® for mentioning it on Facebook!! That little mention has generated a ton of interest – I’ve just been blown away!!
On April 29, I’ll be planting kisses again with Sherry Richert Belul and a host of other artists from around the world! You may remember I participated in this last year too. This year, I’m planting Fortune Kisses, as I did last year – but I’m printing my own papers on the Gelli® Plate! I also had the fantastic honor of mentoring a group of Ohio 4th graders who will be using my Fortune Kiss pattern (which you can find here) for their Plant a Kiss project. I met with them via Skype last week and they were just precious! They’ve promised to follow up with me after the “planting” and I will be sure to update you here!
I’ve also been invited to participate in Visual Artists for Breast Cancer Awareness Day on April 30. The goal is to ‘Pink out the Capitol’ with thousands of individuals from around the state and the Oklahoma art community will be there with art that reflects on the cause – music, dance, visual art and more. The pieces above are part of what I’m working on for this event and I have several ideas floating for other inspirational, uplifting art. I’ll post more on this as the event gets closer.
On the shop front, I’ve recently added a new style of Business Card Book that I’m very excited about – it’s made completely of hand-printed papers + I’ve added a few “Notes” pages at the back. I have one in the shop now and hope to add a few more in the next couple of weeks. I will also be adding some other art pieces, including some prints, as soon as I get some good photos (winter light is not cooperating too well).
So, LOTS of goodness cooking as I start my second year of artsy journeying! It’s hard to believe so much time has already passed!! If I’m truthful, I hardly ever think of my old career beyond an underlying gratitude for the gift of freedom it’s given me at this stage of my life. Gratitude seems to be a common emotion for me these days! We had a bit of a health scare in January as my Hubby had a heart valve replacement. He’s recovering wonderfully and it’s made me step back and take a closer look at ALL the goodness my life is blessed with. My heart is truly overflowing!!
